Reviewers enjoy the panoramic views over the town from this small hilltop Norman keep, and rate the adjoining Clitheroe Castle Museum as good value and fun to walk round, with interactive exhibits and treasure hunts that keep children engaged.
The staff are repeatedly described as friendly and helpful.
A few visited when the keep itself was closed for maintenance.

Robert de Lacy · 12th century
Built by Robert de Lacy in the late 12th century, Clitheroe's small stone keep crowns a limestone outcrop commanding the Ribble Valley. For over 800 years it served as the administrative hub of the Honour of Clitheroe, one of the most powerful Norman estates in Lancashire.
