What 148 castles say about access to their own site, in their own words — wheelchair routes, step counts, accessible parking and toilets, and the places that state plainly they cannot be reached. Every line comes from the operator, dated and linked. Nothing here is our guess.
This is not a list of accessible castles
It is a list of castles that publish access information — and some of what they publish is a flat no. St Michael’s Mount says wheelchairs cannot reach the summit; several ruins describe steep, uneven ground and say so bluntly. Those entries are here on purpose. Knowing a place is unsuitable before you drive three hours is worth as much as knowing it is fine.

Each carries the date we read it. We do not infer access from photographs, floor plans or the presence of a car park, and a castle with no note here is one whose site did not say — not one we judged inaccessible. Castles whose only “accessibility” page turned out to describe their website (text-resizing, contrast toggles) were left off entirely.
