A free Norman ruin held for generations by the Turberville family, with more upstanding masonry than many small Welsh castle ruins manage. A short stroll from the site also takes you to the 14th-century St Mary's Church next door.
The height of the surviving walls and towers, unusually tall for a free, unstaffed ruin.
Parking is very limited - space for around six cars - so arrive early if visiting at a busy time.
Recent reviews of Coity Castle are all positive, describing it as a pleasant, quick stop (around 30-40 minutes) that's free to enter and well suited to families with children. Several mention combining it with a walk to the nearby 14th-century St. Mary's Church. Parking is noted as limited, with space for roughly half a dozen cars.
