History
1720s
The castle has stood since the 1720s as the seat of the Dukes of Roxburghe, whose family ancestry spans hundreds of years. The Innes Ker family transformed from Border reivers into prominent figures in Scottish affairs. It remains Scotland's largest inhabited castle and continues under active conservation.
