Astley Castle is a ruined medieval manor house rebuilt inside its own walls as an award-winning Landmark Trust holiday let - new brick and glass slotted into the old stone shell. Unless you're staying, the interior is off-limits, but the grounds make for a quiet walk past a church and a pool.

This is an unusual case since Astley Castle now operates as a Landmark Trust holiday let, so reviews split between guests praising the beautifully restored accommodation and day visitors describing a pleasant walk around the grounds and signboards on the limited days it's open to the public.

This building includes ground-floor accommodation and a lift to the living areas on the first floor. Parking is in the Coach House yard approximately 110m from the castle; on request the gate code can be given to allow drop-off and pick-up from in front of the castle. The kitchen, dining and sitting areas are all on the first floor and reached by the lift, which does not operate in the event of fi

History
1555
The Astley family held this Warwickshire manor from the 12th century. The Grey family, who married into the estate, rebuilt it in 1555 with Renaissance features. Though severely damaged by fire in 1978, it underwent innovative restoration to create a modern holiday let within its medieval walls.
