Delgatie is one of the few Scottish castles open every day of the year, and unusually, its holiday suites sit inside the castle itself rather than in a separate cottage or wing. It's a working, staffed visitor attraction as well as somewhere you can actually spend the night behind the original walls.
At a glance
Worth the trip
Sleeping inside the castle itself - the suites are built into the historic building rather than a converted outbuilding, a rarer setup than most castle stays offer.
Before you go
Being open year-round makes it one of the more reliable Aberdeenshire castles to plan around whatever the season - with no visitor reviews on file yet, it's worth confirming current opening hours directly before travelling.
What visitors say
Delgatie Castle reviews · 4.6 / 5 across 327 Google reviews
Reviewers describe Delgatie Castle as a historic and atmospheric Scottish tower house with knowledgeable, welcoming staff and the well-regarded Laird's Kitchen tearoom for scones and coffee.
Several have stayed in the self-catering apartments within the castle and loved it, and enjoy the woodland walks in the grounds.
A common note is the many stone stairs, so a reasonable level of fitness helps.
“lovely place to visit on tour with Loch Lomond travel where we had afternoon tea was excellent and service and staff were very kind and gracious well worth a vist in your in the area of Fraserburgh”- Elle Bro, visitor review
