History
Dougall mac Somerled · 12th century
The MacDougalls held this hilltop site from the 12th century when Somerled ruled the Kingdom of the Isles. The existing castle ruins date largely from the 15th century, though the site has roots as an early medieval fortification crucial to Cenél Loairn power.
