A Victorian baronial house turned Relais & Chateaux hotel on the Ayrshire coast - guest and diner access only, no separate sightseeing. Reviewers, including one who filmed a wedding there, consistently describe the coastal setting and light as exceptional.

Worth the trip

The coastal setting and grounds, cited by wedding guests and a professional videographer alike as the standout.

Before you go

Book ahead for a stay or afternoon tea - it's not open to casual visitors - and note one review flagged a service lapse at afternoon tea despite the otherwise high rating, so standards can vary.

What visitors say

Glenapp Castle reviews · 4.8 / 5 across 513 Google reviews

Glenapp Castle's reviews are overwhelmingly glowing for weddings and overnight stays, with reviewers praising attentive, personal service and memorable hosting throughout.

The one exception is a detailed one-star review of an afternoon tea experience, which lists a string of specific lapses - from a stained napkin and poorly prepared sandwiches to substituted tea and a fish dish served despite a stated allergy request.

Taken together, the reviews suggest the wedding and overnight-stay experience is exceptional, though this single afternoon tea review suggests that particular offering may not always meet the same standard.

“If you want an amazing five star experience, this is it. Paul, Jen, Hazel, and team - thank you for making our families stay remarkable. We will be back!”- Chris Lamm, visitor review
