Before you go
The castle is a roughly ten-minute walk from the visitor centre, but there's an accessible shuttle for anyone who needs it.
Culzean Castle draws unanimous five-star praise, and several reviewers make the same point: it's a large estate, so allow the better part of a day to properly explore the castle, woodland and beach walks, and walled gardens. Families are particularly well catered for, with more than one reviewer highlighting excellent play areas for kids, and there's a shuttle available from the visitor centre for those with limited mobility. The deer and llama park is mentioned as an unexpected bonus, and staff are consistently described as helpful and friendly.
