Level 2 – Easy. Historic steps present but may be uneven. No designated parking. Currently closed for footbridge refurbishment works (running through September 2026), though outer ward remains partially accessible.

History
Normans (unspecified)
Built by the Normans to control the Welsh border as part of the 'Three Castles of Gwent', Grosmont began as an earth-and-timber fortress on a prominent hill. Thirteenth-century reconstruction added a stone gatehouse and circular towers, later adapted with domestic apartments. The castle was besieged by Owain Glyndŵr's forces in the 15th century.
