History
Meredith ap Ieuan ap Robert (rebuilt) · c.1500
A fortified manor with origins dating to around 1500, Gwydir sits on a site defended since at least AD 600. In the 14th century, Welsh knight Hywel Coetmor built a manor there. The surviving structure was rebuilt after the Wars of the Roses by Meredith ap Ieuan ap Robert, founder of the Wynn dynasty, with further additions around 1540.
