A brand-new attraction inside Inverness's historic castle, fully opened in February 2026 after years of redevelopment, with storyteller-led tours and interactive displays covering the region's history and culture. At 4.1 stars it's one of the more divisive ratings in this batch - reviewers who go in with time to spare rate it highly, but it's a longer, pricier visit than the castle's outside appearance suggests.
The storyteller-led sections and interactive displays, which reviewers say need genuine time - over an hour - to do justice.
Book ahead - reviewers stress this repeatedly, especially for blue badge parking - and set aside at least 90 minutes; this isn't a quick look-round castle any more.
Recent reviews are all five-star for the Inverness Castle Experience, with visitors praising the interactive audio-guided exhibits, the rooftop viewpoint over the city, and themed sections including one dedicated to the band Runrig. Several recommend booking online in advance, especially for accessible parking, and note it's a longer visit than expected — allow at least an hour to two hours to see everything properly.
