History
MacSweens · 13th century
A fortified tower on a loch peninsula, built in the 13th century and held by the MacSweens before passing to Walter Stewart in 1262. Robert the Bruce is believed to have landed here in 1306 en route to reclaim Scotland; later used by James IV against the Lords of the Isles and eventually settled by the Hamilton family.
