History
Baldwin Fitz Turstin · 13th century
Beginning in the late 13th century, Restormel took its most recognisable form under Edward the Black Prince, who used it as a residence and administrative headquarters overlooking the River Fowey. The royal visitor left behind stone hall remnants and occupied a fortified structure that grew into a 'miniature palace' with piped water. The site declined from the 16th century onwards, ultimately falling into ruin.
