History
McCulloch family · 1466
A late 15th-century tower house built by the McCulloch family, noted for both their medieval legal disputes and later lawlessness. The McCullochs held it until a feud with the Gordons ended in 1690 when Sir Godfrey McCulloch was beheaded for murder. The castle passed through several owners before being placed under state care in 1927.
