William Douglas, 1st Duke of Queensberry, constructed this distinctive pink sandstone castle between 1679 and 1689, showcasing late 17th-century Renaissance architecture. The castle features 120 rooms, 17 turrets, and four towers set against the Dumfriesshire countryside. It remains the home of the Duke of Buccleuch and continues as both a residence and tourist destination.
