Blue Badge parking in main car park. 14 steps to ground floor; electrically-powered wheelchair stair climber available (transfer required). Vertical Platform Lift for first-floor access (unavailable on Bank Holidays). Grounds are hilly; Terraces accessible but arboretum and lakeside involve steep inclines. Tea Room and Ice Cream Parlour accessible.

History
John Cocks, 1st Earl Somers · 1811-1820
A 19th-century Norman Revival castle built between 1811 and 1820 by John Cocks, 1st Earl Somers, using architect Robert Smirke's designs. Interior decoration by A.W.N. Pugin added Gothic elements in 1849–1850. The castle remains a private family home and has been used as a filming location for television and film productions.
