A castle that's been a working school campus (Atlantic College) rather than a static heritage site for decades, so visiting generally means a pre-booked tour, an open day, or an arts centre event rather than daily walk-up access. When open days do happen, reviewers describe grounds that run straight down to the beach, with the castle's turrets and towers drawing regular Harry Potter comparisons.

History
de Hawey family · 12th century
